DTN COMMENTS:  A few deals have been reported sold in parts of Texas at 
$256, $10 higher than last week's weighted average. A few more bids are 
on the table at this time, but asking prices remain rather limited. A 
light trade was reported in several areas yesterday. Mandatory reported 
dressed sales of $395 to $396 in Nebraska and Iowa, but after the 
Mandatory cutoff, private sources reported Northern sales at $400, $14 
higher than last week's weighted averages. Many of these cattle are set 
for delivery the week of 5/11/2026. Southern live trade was reported at 
$250 to $252 by Mandatory, but later sales were reported at $255, $9 
higher than the prior week's weighed average. It will be very interesting 
to see just where weighted averages fall when summaries are released a 
little later this morning. 

Beef cutouts are lower at midday (choice 387.96 -0.94, select 387.84 -
0.94) with light to moderate box movement (47.11 lds of choice cuts, 6.52 
lds of select cuts, 7.33 lds of trim, and 8.91 lds of ground). Live 
cattle contracts are mixed, mostly moderately lower at midday, while 
feeder issues are mostly sharply lower.
