EARLY MORNING GLOBEX NET CHANGES: December corn is up 2 cents per bushel,
November soybeans are down 2 1/4 cents, December KC wheat is down 6 cents,
December Chicago wheat is down 7 1/4 cents, and MIAX December Minneapolis wheat
is down 0.0325 cents.
CME GLOBEX RECAP: On Friday, December corn rose 3 cents, November soybeans
rose 20 cents, and September KC wheat rose 24 1/4 cents. The futures markets
were trading the ongoing uncertainty of grain shipments in the Black Sea on
Friday. That meant a double-digit rally for wheat. Soybean prices surged into
double digits on tremendously strong demand, as reflected by numerous flash
sales of soybeans and soymeal. Corn followed wheat and soybeans higher. Soybean
basis was steady Friday, while corn, soft red winter, hard red winter wheat,
and hard red spring wheat basis were stronger. The final trading day of August
may face end-of-month profit-taking. However, the markets seem intent on
maintaining a bullish trend. On Sunday, the U.S. attacked two Iranian rocket
launchers in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran retaliated by attacking a U.S. military
base in Jordan. As a result, crude oil moved above $90 a barrel to start the
week.
OUTSIDE MARKETS: The previous close on Friday showed the Dow Jones
Industrial Average down 9.45 points to 53,559.99 and the S&P 500 down 19.23
points to 7,711.76. The 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 4.72%. Early Monday,
the September Dow Jones Futures are down 87 points. European markets are mixed,
with the spot futures of London's FTSE 100 trading up 0.17%, the spot futures
of Germany's DAX trading down 0.81%, and the spot futures of France's CAC 40
Index trading down 0.05%. Asian markets are mixed, with Japan's Nikkei 225
Index down 0.14% and China's Shanghai Composite Index up 0.86%.
